The ground isolator is used as an audio filter. It eliminates hum and sound interference. Such interference noises often occur when connecting audio devices that are connected to the mains with protective contact plugs. These can be, for example, computers and active boxes, televisions and AV receivers, PCs and monitors. This has the following cause: Such devices with protective contact plugs are each grounded via the protective conductor. If a component is connected to a television cable for satellite equipment, cable connection or antenna, this is where it is grounded. The two different grounding points can result in different ground potentials. Because the devices are only connected to each other via audio cables, a compensating current flows from the higher to the lower potential. And this causes the hum, also called ground loop. You can easily check whether this is the cause of the problem on devices with a TV or radio cable: try disconnecting the coaxial cable. The hum should be gone then. This is of course not a permanent condition, you need a ground separator.
In such cases use the ATG00101. This is simply connected to the audio line with a 3.5 mm jack cable. A short piece of cable of 20 cm is included. With this mass separator you prevent an electrical connection of the devices. The sound transmission does not suffer from this.
Also with sound disturbances in the car
For audio connections in vehicles, the mass cut filter can eliminate unwanted noise. Voltage changes in the alternator can be picked up and amplified via the cigarette lighter. There are sound disturbances in the car when music is being played from the smartphone and it is being charged at the same time. These often depend on the engine speed. You can prevent something like this by using the ATG00101 as an interference suppression filter. This does not negatively affect the sound.
The ATG00101 has true galvanic isolation. It is connected at any point between the two devices using the supplied short audio cable (3.5 mm) jack. Due to the compact dimensions, the filter can be easily stowed away.
The mass separator should be used for devices with line-in/out impedance, such as amplifiers, hi-fi components, car radios, sound cards, mixers. When connecting to devices with low impedance such as headphones or active loudspeakers, the sound can be impaired, especially in the bass range.
