With this HDMI matrix switch, you can connect two HDMI sources to up to four devices such as TVs, monitors, projectors or AV receivers and distribute the signal as required. Thanks to the integrated HDMI Audio Extractor, you can output the sound either from the source or from the Audio Return Channel (ARC) of your TV via SPDIF Toslink (stereo, DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1) or 3.5 mm jack (stereo only, not with ARC).
You can assign the HDMI inputs and outputs as you wish. For example, you can distribute two HDMI sources to two displays each or output one source to four displays simultaneously. All outputs can be switched on and off as required - conveniently using the remote control or buttons on the device.
The switch supports Ultra-HD 4K with 60Hz, YUV 4:4:4 and RGB (up to 18 Gbps), as well as HDR (including Dolby Vision), so you can enjoy even the most demanding video formats in the best quality. All common audio formats are also supported via HDMI, depending on the audio EDID set (Pass, 2.0 Stereo or 5.1 Surround). Dolby Atmos and HD sound formats are available in pass mode if the source and end devices support this.
For the audio output, you can output the sound via the two 3.5 mm jack sockets (for stereo) or the two SPDIF Toslink outputs (max. 5.1 surround). The switch adapts to the sound formats: In pass mode, the sound formats are passed through without conversion, while you can switch the audio EDID to 2.0 or 5.1 if required. If ARC is active, the analogue audio output remains muted and the sound is output via the Toslink output.
The HDMI matrix switch not only replaces a 4-way splitter, but also an audio extractor and a 2-way HDMI switch. This allows you to flexibly and efficiently connect any source to the desired displays and audio outputs. Ideal for home cinemas, presentations or complex multimedia setups.
Please note that many players adhere to the HDMI specifications and only output sound formats that are supported by the connected HDMI sinks. For example, Apple TV only outputs 4K Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound if all connected HDMI sinks support it. If you connect a projector, for example, HD sound may not be available. In this case, you can set the audio format manually. The EDID management of the VMS02400 allows you to control the sound output and limit it to stereo or 5.1 - depending on your devices and needs. Higher sound formats are only possible if all recognised HDMI sinks support this. The PASS mode is selected for this. HDMI CEC is not passed through.
