Automatic switching
HDMI 2.1 Switch 2 In 1 Out
With this switch you can use 2 players on one television or monitor. This means you can use 2 game consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series You can press the front button to switch between the two inputs or use the included remote control. Automatic switching between HDMI inputs is possible on most - but not all - devices. The system automatically switches to the device that was last switched on. Auto switching can be switched off.
HDMI 2.1 Audio Extractor
The SW212 features an HDMI 2.1 Audio Extractor. This means that the sound can be transmitted not only via HDMI, but also via optical SPDIF (Toslink) and analog (3.5 mm jack) to a sound system or headphones/headset. Please note that only stereo, DTS and Dolby Digital are played via Toslink. Only stereo sound is output via the analog output. The same audio format is output everywhere , the switch does not convert the formats. So select a maximum of 5.1 bitstream sound on your game console if you want to use the Toslink connection - or stereo for the jack output. You can either set the formats on your players or use the EDID management of the SW212. Please note that audio formats such as PCM 5.1 or Dolby Atmos are only passed through from the switch via HDMI and not output via SPDIF/jack. (No sound system could handle this via such inputs)
The internal TV sound of a TV with HDMI-ARC or eARC cannot be extracted with this.
HDMI 2.1 features
The switch supports the HDMI 2.1 features VRR, ALLM, QFT and FVA for gaming as well as video resolutions up to 4K 120Hz 12-bit or 8K 60Hz 12-bit. The maximum data rate may be 48 GBit/s. Still supported:- SDR, HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision
- HDCP 2.3 copy protection (backwards compatible)
- Passthrough for all audio formats including LPCM 2.0-7.1, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD / Atmos, Dolby MAT, DTS, DTS-HD, DSD.
- HDMI-CEC is passed through.
HDMI cable
Note that the higher the data rate of the AV signal, the more critical the cable length becomes. For an 8K resolution or 4k 120Hz, we recommend a maximum cable length of 2 m at the inputs and output. If you need longer ranges, you can use special HDMI cables with fiber optic data lines or active cables. For 4K video, the cables can be up to 6 m long, for Full HD up to 15 m.
scope of delivery
The scope of delivery includes an infrared remote control for switching on/off and switching and a power supply.
EDID switch for video and audio formats
If necessary, the EDID mode can be set using the 3 dip switches:
- 111 COPY mode, EDID data of the display is adopted (default setting)
- 110 4K 60Hz 4:4:4, Audio PCM2.0
- 101 FRL12G 8K HDR, Audio PCM2.0
- 100 FRL12G 8K HDR, Audio 5.1 DTS/Dolby/PCM 2.0
- 011 FRL12G 8K HDR, Audio 7.1 DTS/Dolby/HD/PCM7.1
- 010 FRL10G 8K HDR, Audio PCM2.0
- 001 FRL10G 8K HDR, Audio 5.1 DTS/Dolby/PCM 2.0
- 000 FRL10G 8K HDR, Audio 7.1 DTS/Dolby/HD/PCM7.1
(FRL12G allows a maximum data rate of 48 Gbps, FRL10G a maximum of 40 Gbps)
This means you can also force audio formats on the monitor or video projector that otherwise do not support audio.
Please note: Audio formats higher than stereo cannot be output on a computer monitor that does not support 16:9 display. So this applies to ultrawide 21:9 and 32:9 monitors.
