With this switch, 4 players can be used on 2 displays, e.g. television and monitor. This allows you to play one of the 4 players on both displays at the same time, or have a different player shown on each display.
The integrated audio extractor outputs the sound of a selected player via the optical digital output (in stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1) and via RCA cinch (stereo only). You can connect a sound system or a headphone base station there. The HDMI signal at output A and B for televisions is not changed, it includes also sound. If ARC is switched on at the Matrix Switch, the internal sound from TV B can also be output via Toslink. ARC stands for Audio Return Channel, a suitable connection can be found on most televisions and only rarely on a video projector.
So that a 4K and a full HD display can be operated at the same time, the Switch has an automatic downscaler. The 4K video signal is thus converted to 1080p reduced resolution for the Full HD device. At the same time, the 4K device receives the original signal. The frame rate is not changed. A maximum of 4K 60Hz can be scaled down, 1080p 60Hz is then output on the Full HD TV. The downscaler is therefore inactive for 4K 120Hz gaming.
All new gaming features like 4K 120Hz and VRR are supported. In order for an HDMI 2.1 transmission to be possible, e.g. 4K 120Hz for gaming, both connected HDMI displays must support HDMI 2.1. A mixed operation
possible with HDMI 2.0 is not possible, not even for HDMI audio only.
In order for a player to output these video formats, both connected displays must support this. For example, if the TV on output A supports Dolby Vision, the Projector at output B but not, the output is in HDR10 or SDR (depending on the player).
Select PASS if you are not using the audio outputs on the switch. Use the A/B button to select whether the maximum audio format of the device is used at output A or B. If, for example, a television with a soundbar is operated at output B, set B here. The A/B LED will then not light up. If the ‘better’ sound system is connected to output A, press the A/B button on the switch for 3 seconds or use the A-B button on the remote control. The A/B and PASS LEDs then light up. Please note: If both HDMI outputs are active at the same time, PASS will output an audio format compatible with both displays.
In the 5.1 setting, the audio format is limited to Dolby Digital / DTS so that it is always also output via the Toslink output. In the 2.0 setting, stereo is supported for output via cinch.
You can press the button on the remote control or the switch to switch between the 4 inputs. The switch does not switch automatically. Power is supplied via the mains adapter provided.
This switch cannot be operated when connected directly via HDMI to a soundbar that only has a single HDMI connection (i.e. HDMI-ARC/ HDMI-eARC). Therefore it is not suitable for HDMI connection to Sonos Arc/Beam, Bose 900 or similar.
When operating with 4K 120Hz on a TV, an older second HDMI sink (AVR, monitor, projector, etc.) cannot also be used. The other HDMI output device must therefore be switched off to play at 4K 120Hz. As soon as a maximum of 4K 60Hz is displayed again, the second device can also be used.
HDMI-CEC is not supported.
