HDMI eARC Audio Extractor

The AX110 is a solution for connecting the latest televisions with an HDMI eARC connection to existing sound systems. Modern players such as XBox Series X or PlayStation PS5 can be connected directly to the television, even via HDMI 2.1. There are no restrictions on video formats or gaming. At the same time, high-quality audio formats can be played back as normal HDMI signals via the AV receiver. There is no need to replace your AVR just to use eARC.

The AX110 converts the eARC audio signal to a conventional HDMI signal. The AV receiver or the sound system does not need to support the video format or HDMI 2.1. A black screen plus audio is delivered. All eARC audio formats are possible, e.g. Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, PCM5.1, Dolby MAT, Dolby Atmos. A standard HDMI input on the sound system is sufficient for this. An HDMI-ARC connection on a soundbar is not suitable for connection. To pass through PCM5.1 and PCM7.1 sound, the TV usually needs to be switched to audio passthrough mode.

Controlling the volume of the sound system and muting with the TV remote control is possible with the AX110 if the sound system supports HDMI-CEC commands on its HDMI inputs. This usually works with AV receivers from the last 10 years. The automatic switching on and off of the AV receiver together with the television works in most device combinations. But it is possible that certain combinations will not work - the responsible HDMI-CEC protocol is interpreted differently by manufacturers.

Please note that TVs with HDMI-eARC sometimes do not pass DTS and DTS-HD audio formats. In such cases, most Blu-ray players or Xbox allow you to deactivate DTS bitstream output. This means the player does the decoding and outputs the uncompressed DTS signal as PCM multichannel. Such a PCM 5.1 or PCM 7.1 audio signal can then be passed lossless through by the TV and AX110.

Hints:

Power supply via USB, USB device socket or power supply required (5V 350 mA, not included).
No operation on the HDMI-ARC connection of a soundbar possible, sound system requires normal HDMI input (HDMI-ARC connection of a soundbar is an HDMI output!). Therefore not suitable for Sonos or Bose soundbars.

I chose this product so I could route the audio from my LG C4 (or Xbox Series X) to my Denon X4800H (HDMI input!). Previously, the eARC function wasn't possible over the 12-meter distance between these two devices, despite the fiber optic cable. What I didn't realize until a certain point was that the Audio Return Channel uses regular copper instead of fiber optic, and that's no longer sufficient to ensure eARC over long distances. When using the AX110, however, I always had to deactivate and reactivate the eARC function on the TV after turning on the devices before I could hear any sound. So I tried the AX211 as well, and everything worked right away (see AX211 review). This was probably because the AV receiver was connected to the TV twice (Denon OUT -> LG TV IN + LG TV OUT -> AX110 -> Denon IN). Without double cabling between the devices, the AX110 is definitely recommended. Feintech's support is great, and questions are answered quickly and thoroughly!

HDMI eARC adapter

It's annoying when you buy a new TV and then the slightly older Hermann model in the box isn't recognized. But thanks to the adapter, I now have decent sound through my system again, and I'm happy. It's nice that someone has addressed this issue and found a solution.

LG G4 + Denon 3808 - TrueHD and DTS Master - works!

Simple and uncomplicated

It does exactly what you'd expect. Even older receivers work flawlessly again.

AX110 eArc Extractor works perfectly - CEC can cause problems

I have an LG OLED 55 C3 with HDMI 2.1 and eArc. As described, I connected it to my Marantz NR1508 AV receiver (Arc only) via a standard HDMI input. After some initial problems, which were due to the TV's settings, I can now route the audio data directly to the AVR as a PCM 5.1 signal. I didn't notice any audio delay. Without an adapter, only PCM 2.1 and at most Dolby Digital were possible via the built-in Arc port.
I set the PS5 to LPCM on the TV, but all other configurable formats are also sent directly to the AVR, as long as they are supported. DTS was also possible. It's important that the HDMI input on the TV and the eARC connection to the AX110 are set to Bitstream, even though PCM would be more logical when using LPCM. However, the PCM setting on the LG is more intended to allow the TV to generate PCM.

Now comes the big BUT, regarding the functionality of CEC control signals. However, these are explicitly not the responsibility of the adapter offered here. Hence the 5-star rating.
However, it might be helpful for others too. At first, the control signals worked, as Feintech stated for the product. The AVR also accepts them via a conventional input. Volume up, down, mute, menu control, and power on and off with the TV. Now I want to connect some other devices on the AV receiver to the TV. So I connected the HDMI output to a normal HDMI input on the TV. After that, the only thing that worked was turning the AVR off. It seems that control signals are now being sent to the AVR in a loop, and the AVR isn't interpreting the signals correctly. Sometimes the receiver suddenly turns back on again. However, on the LG and the Marantz, you can only turn HDMI-CEC on or off completely; you can't set it separately for each port.

I've now found a solution to disable CEC for individual connections. There's an adapter that disables the HDMI CEC channel (PIN 13). Just search for "HDMI CEC lock" here on Amazon.
The only limitation is that the devices on the AVR can no longer be controlled via CEC. However, the AVR can still be controlled via the TV and connected game consoles.

Conclusion: Full marks for the Feintech team, who offer solutions that the various manufacturers have still not been able to standardize in two decades of HDMI standards.

Perhaps Feintech can include this in their FAQs and possibly include such an adapter in their product range or include it with the AX110.

It is indeed the case that in the described setup, the AVR is connected to the TV twice: via its HDMI input (on the AX110 and then to the TV) and simultaneously via the HDMI output to the TV. This can indeed cause problems with CEC control, because neither the TV nor the AVR supports such cabling. Blocking HDMI CEC or HDMI PIN 13 can solve this problem.

Wish i'd bought this years ago! Works great, using with my media PC and LG's OLED55 CX eARC output to my Yamaha HTR-2067 that doesnt support eARC. Much simpler setup and no more faff switching inputs on the AVR!

Ich habe dieses Produkt ausgewählt, damit ich den Ton von meinem LG C4 (bzw. Xbox Series X) an meinen Denon X4800H (HDMI-Eingang!) weiterleiten kann. Zuvor war die eARC Funktion über die Strecke von 12 Metern zwischen diesen beiden Geräten trotz Glasfaserkabel nicht möglich. Was ich bis zu einem gewissen Zeitpunkt nicht wusste, dass für den Audio Return Channel kein Glasfaser, sondern normales Kupfer verwendet wird und das reicht nicht mehr aus, um eARC über weite Strecken zu gewährleisten. Beim Einsatz des AX110 musste ich allerdings immer die eARC Funktion am TV deaktivieren bzw. reaktivieren, nachdem die Geräte eingeschalten wurden, erst dann war Ton zu hören. Deshalb habe ich den AX211 auch probiert und hier funktioniert alles auf Anhieb (siehe Bewertung AX211). Wahrscheinlich weil der AV-Receiver doppelt mit dem TV verbunden war (Denon OUT -> LG TV IN + LG TV OUT -> AX110 -> Denon IN). Ohne doppelte Verkabelung der Geräte ist der AX110 auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert. Der Support von Feintech ist klasse und Fragen werden rasch und ausführlich beantwortet!

Adapter HDMI eARC

Es ist schon ärgerlich wenn man sich einen neuen Fernseher kauft und dann der etwas ältere Hermann im Karton nicht erkannt wird. Aber dank dem Adapter habe ich nun wieder einen ordentlichen Sound über meine Anlage und bin zufrieden. Schön das sich jemand mit dem Thema beschäftigt und eine Lösung gefunden hat.

Einfach und unkompliziert

Ich habe einen LG OLED 55 C3 mit HDMI 2.1 und eArc. Diesen habe ich wie beschrieben mit meinem AV Receiver Marantz NR1508 (nur Arc) über einen normalen HDMI Eingang verbunden. Nach anfänglichen Problemen, die jedoch an den Einstellungen am TV gelegen haben, kann ich nun die Audiodaten als PCM 5.1-Signal direkt zum AVR leiten. Eine Audioverzögerung wäre mir hierbei nicht aufgefallen. Ohne Adapter über den eingebauten Arc-Anschluss war nur PCM2.1 und maximal Dolby Digital möglich.
Die PS5 am TV habe ich auf LPCM gestellt, wobei auch alle anderen einstellbaren Formate direkt zum AVR geleitet werden, soweit diese unterstützt werden, auch DTS war möglich. Wichtig ist, dass der HDMI-Eingang am TV sowie beim eARC-Anschluss zum AX110 auf Bitstream eingestellt wird, auch wenn bei Verwendung von LPCM die Einstellung PCM logischer wäre. Die Einstellung PCM beim LG ist jedoch eher so gedacht, dass der TV das PCM erzeugt.

Jetzt kommt das große ABER, bei der Funktion von CEC-Steuersignalen. Diese liegen jedoch explizit nicht am hier angebotenen Adapter. Deshalb auch die 5 Sterne Bewertung.
Es könnte jedoch auch für andere hilfreich sein. Zuerst funktionierten die Steuersignale, wie von Feintech auch für das Produkt angegeben wurde. Sie werden vom AVR auch über einen herkömmlichen Eingang angenommen. Lauter, Leiser, Stummschalten, Menüsteuerung, sowie Ein- und Ausschalten mit dem TV. Nun ist es so, dass ich noch einige andere Geräte am AV-Receiver zum TV übertragen möchte. Also habe ich den HDMI-Ausgang an einen normalen HDMI-Eingang am TV angeschlossen. Danach funktionierte nur noch Ausschalten des AVR. Scheinbar werden Steuersignale jetzt in einer Schleife zum AVR gesendet und dieser kann die Signale nicht richtig interpretieren. Manchmal schaltet sich der Receiver auch plötzlich sofort wieder ein. Am LG sowie beim Marantz kann man jedoch HDMI-CEC nur komplett an- oder ausschalten und nicht für jeden Port separat festlegen.

Ich habe nun eine Lösung gefunden, um CEC für einzelne Verbindungen auszuschalten. Hierfür gibt es einen Zwischenstecker, der den HDMI-CEC Kanal (PIN 13) stilllegt. Einfach hier bei Amazon nach "HDMI CEC Sperre" suchen.
Die einzige Einschränkung ist, dass die Geräte am AVR nun auch nicht mehr per CEC Ansteuerbar sind. Aber der AVR lässt sich so weiterhin über TV sowie daran angeschlossene Spielekonsolen mitsteuern.

Fazit: Volle Punktzahl für das Feintech-Team, die Lösungen anbieten, welche die verschiedenen Hersteller, in zwei Jahrzehnten HDMI-Standard, immer noch nicht standardisieren konnten.

Evtl. kann Feintech, dies auch in ihre FAQs aufnehmen und ggf. selbst so einen Adapter ins Angebot aufnehmen bzw. dem AX110 beilegen.

Es ist in der Tat so, der AVR im beschriebenen Setup doppelt mit dem TV verbunden ist, nämlich über seinen HDMI-Eingang (am AX110 und dann zum TV) und zugleich über den HDMI-Ausgang zum TV. Das kann in der Tat Probleme bei der CEC Steuerung machen, weil so eine Verkabelung weder bei TV noch AVR vorgesehen ist. Eine HDMI CEC Sperre bzw. ein Blocken des HDMI PIN13 kann so ein Problem lösen.

Xbox Series x atmos delay Problem gelöst

Wie im Titel beschrieben.
CEC funktioniert mit LG Fernsehern. Ledeglich muss der Receiver vorher angeschaltet werden. Der delay ist von ca 200 ms auf 10 ms gesunken, was ein Spielerlebnis mit Dolby atmos erträglich macht.

Ich habe noch eine Frage, warum es zwei eARC Extractor Adapter gibt (VAX01202 und AX110) und welcher der bessere hierfür ist?

Der VAX01202 bietet zum geringeren Preis zusätzlich noch eine alternative Funktion an ... warum sollte man dann den AX110 nehmen?

Der VAX01202 bietet einen Audio Splitter Modus und einen eARC Modus. Man kann nur einen Modus zur Zeit nutzen. Die Anschlüsse, Videoformate und Einstellungen in den Geräten sind für jeden Modus unterschiedlich. Wir haben erlebt, dass sich manche Nutzer damit schwer tun diese Eigenschaften zu verstehen. Daher haben wir den AX110 entwickelt, der ausschließelich den eARC Modus verwendet, einfacher zu beschreiben ist und keine Einstellungen / Optionen benötigt. Die Geräte VAX01202 und AX110 sind im eARC Modus also identisch. Der AX110 wird zusätzlich mit einem hochwertigen 8K HDMI-Kabel geliefert und hat ein Vollmetall-Gehäuse.

The AX110 and VAX01202 have the same function when it comes to eARC extraction. The VAX01202 can be used alternatively as an HDMI audio splitter. The AX110 is delivered with a suitable HDMI cable and has a mountable housing.

Hello, I've purchased the device and it works really well in its main function. It passes all signals the AV receiver. However the TV sees the eArc connected even if the AVR is turned off. Is there a way to prevent this? The AVR is a Pioneer Vsx-520 and the TV is a Panasonic lz1000.

Many TVs automatically choose the HDMI ARC port for the sound output as soon as it recognizes a device on this port. This can already be the case as soon as a HDMI cable is plugged in. Depending on the settings of your TV it might help if you plug off the power of the AX110 and your AVR. But again, this depends on how your TV reacts.

ich habe einen LG TV (OLED65C9) mit eARC. Alle Zuspieler (Apple TV, Blu-Ray-Player, Spielkonsole sind per HDMI direkt am TV angeschlossen. Mein alter Onkyo AV-Receiver unterstützt kein eARC.
Zur Lösung des Problems habe ich auf Ihrer Webseite zwei Produkte gefunden, den AX110 und den VAX01202.
Welches Produkt ist für meine Geräte besser geeignet?

Why is the behavoiur different between AX110 & VAX01202?

VAX01202 works correctly, AX110 does not.

Unfortunately, the options for automatic switching are sometimes difficult to understand if 2 devices are not simply connected to each other. We know of no reason why it should be different. It could be that the unit addresses were stored temporarily or that the timing or the switch-on sequence was different. If it doesn't work as you want, it is best to reset your units to factory settings.Then try again.
