The HX230 HDMI Extender is a powerful solution for lossless transmission of HDMI signals over long distances. It enables the transmission of audio and video signals from an HDMI source—such as a Blu-ray player, game console, or PC—to a remote TV, projector, or monitor over a single CAT6 or CAT7 network cable, with a range of up to 70 meters. It also transmits infrared signals from a remote control, allowing convenient remote control of the HDMI source (or display).
The HDMI signal can also be forwarded to a local display simultaneously, making the extender ideal for applications requiring both local and remote display. The HX230 receiver also features an optical digital output (Toslink audio extender) that allows the audio signal to be sent to a remote sound system independently of the video transmission—ideal for setups with a video projector and separate audio system.
Installing the system is straightforward: The HDMI output of the source is connected to the HX230 transmitter. If required, a local display is also connected to the transmitter's HDMI output. A network cable is used to connect the HX230 receiver, which in turn is connected to the remote display and, optionally, to an audio system via the Toslink output. An EDID switch can be used to specify whether the transmission should be adapted to the technical requirements of the local or remote display – alternatively, fixed EDID profiles for 4K or 1080p with stereo sound are available. Power is supplied via an included power adapter that can be connected to either the transmitter or the receiver.
The integrated EDID control offers 4 operating modes: Either the EDID of the display on the receiver or that of the local monitor on the transmitter is used, or a fixed setting (4K at 60 Hz or 1080p with stereo audio) can be switched.
Infrared signals can also be transmitted flexibly. This allows you to either control the HDMI source from the location of the remote display, or, conversely, operate a remote device using a remote control on the transmitter.
A special feature of the HX230 is the additional Toslink audio extractor . By default, ARC is disabled, and the Toslink output on the receiver transmits the audio signal from the HDMI source. This allows you to use an additional sound system with the video projector, for example. If you are using a TV or video projector with HDMI ARC on the transmitter, you can enable ARC. The audio from internal TV apps will then be routed to an external audio system via Toslink.
With a maximum transfer rate of 18 Gbps, the system enables the transmission of 4K video signals at 60 Hz in full color resolution (4:4:4). It supports both SDR and HDR content and offers latency-free transmission for professional applications in home entertainment, presentations, and digital signage.
Please note that these HDMI extenders cannot be connected to a network switch or via Ethernet! A continuous network cable of CAT6 or better must be used between the transmitter and receiver.
