Transmission to wireless headphones

Use a standard wireless headset to listen to the sound from the TV or media player. The VAX01301 only sends the sound in stereo, so set the TV and media player to stereo.

Sound through a stereo system

Connect your stereo or powered speakers to the VAX01301. Enjoy the sound from the media player or from the TV via your system.

5.1 sound via a soundbar

Connect the VAX01301 to your computer's HDMI output and to your monitor. You can operate a soundbar for Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 multi-channel sound via the optical digital output.

This adapter enables wireless audio output or via RCA and optical connection - from a TV with HDMI-ARC or an HDMI source

The VAX01301 is used to output the sound from an HDMI signal wirelessly or via RCA (analog) and SPDIF Toslink (digital). This means that wireless headphones or speakers can be used to output the sound. Or active speakers and a stereo system that are connected to the audio outputs via cable.

If the TV has HDMI-ARC (or HDMI-eARC), the VAX01301 can be connected there and thus deliver the internal TV sound from apps and receivers. To do this, HDMI-ARC is activated at the touch of a button. In order to enable stereo and wireless output (5.1 sound cannot be processed wirelessly!), the audio format on the TV must be set to PCM stereo, not bitstream or Dolby.

The HDMI audio extractor can also deliver the sound from a player such as Fire TV, Apple TV, etc. that is connected to its HDMI input. A television, monitor or video projector can be connected to the HDMI output. Ultra HD video resolutions up to 4k 60Hz HDR or Dolby Vision are supported. Stereo sound is also output wirelessly or via RCA / SPDIF from this input. 5.1 sound with Dolby Digital or DTS can only be extracted via SPDIF Toslink. The simultaneous use of wireless audio and audio on the RCA / SPDIF outputs is not possible. The maximum audio format of the player can be limited using the 2.0 / 5.1 or Advanced (Audio EDID mode) selection button. For example, to stereo to enable wireless transmission. In Advanced mode, all audio formats are supported. But higher audio formats can only be transmitted via HDMI, not via RCA or Toslink.

The VAX01301 delivers constant audio output levels. The volume of the digital audio signals can only be controlled after analogue conversion, i.e. in the headphones or on the sound system. Many televisions or media players offer the option of controlling the sound system using a learning remote control. HDMI-CEC is passed through between the HDMI input and output. The VAX01301 is powered via USB (power supply not included), e.g. from the television.

A notice:

  • Wireless output via the built-in audio transmitter or via cinch is only possible with stereo sound. When using ARC, please set the TV to PCM to get stereo sound.
  • Dolby Digital & DTS 5.1 sound is only output via SPDIF Toslink
  • Higher audio formats can only be passed through via HDMI and cannot be extracted
  • No ARC sound device can be operated on the HDMI input of the VAX01301. ARC from the TV cannot be passed through.
  • The volume control is only possible on the sound device, not on the player or TV.
  • Power is supplied via USB (max. 700 mA, power supply is not included)

Scope of delivery: HDMI audio extractor, USB cable, instructions. Dimensions: 105 x 65 x 28 mm.

Also good for parallel operation Sono Arc || Sonos Ace

The TV sound swap between Sono Arc and Sonos Ace is a great thing. But what if you want to listen to both at the same time? Here is the solution: simply plug the VAX01301 between the HDMI-(e)ARC of the TV or the (ARC) to Sound 1 of the popular VAX04101 from the same manufacturer.

We had to get an extra HDMI cable but now we can connect the old TV to the Bluetooth box

Almost perfect

It works. I use it to connect Bluetooth speakers to my Xbox series when connected to a Video Projector that has no audio output.

But I notice a 250ms latency that is more noticeable watching a movie than when playing games. I use vlc latency compensation tool to eliminate it when watching a movie. In a game, it's not that much of a deal unless it's a sound based game where tight synchronization is really important.

Also, whenever I turn my BT speakers on, even though it will automatically connect to the extractor, I must manually put the speaker in pairing mode BEFORE it connects to the extractor otherwise artifacts start happening (clicks, pops, crackling). When you know it, it takes 2 seconds so not a big technical problem, more of an experience quality thing.

Other than that, it's a good device that solves the problem of not having BT compatibility between an Xbox and a BT devices that is not manufactured by Microsoft.

Does not work with Apple TV4k

The device works great, just not on my new AppleTV 4K. What a pity. There was only snow on the TV...

With the Apple TV, it is important that it is briefly unplugged from the power and restarted after changing the HDMI cabling. Otherwise, the Apple TV will not display any image because it still has the previous connection data cached.
